Abstract
An intersection is a place or area where there are two or more roads whose function is to change the direction of traffic flow. The purpose of the analysis of the intersection of Jl. H. Faqih Usman Palembang is looking for an effective simulation so that it can improve traffic performance at the intersection. Using guidelines from the Higways Capacity Manual Of Indonesia (MKJI) in 1997 the data obtained was analyzed to simulate an unsignalized intersection to become a roundabout intersection with the R10-22 roundabout type using a roundabout diameter of 10 m. The result is an increase in the performance of the
intersection on Jl. H. faqih Usman Palembang, among others as follows:
- Capacity (C) = 3398.84 pcu/hour becomes 2614,16 pcu/hour, namely the increase in the capacity of the road section so that the density of vehicles (pcu/hour) that enters the intersection decreases.
- Degree of saturation (DS) = 0.85 to 0.542, namely the reduction in the high risk that the intersection will be blocked by drivers fighting over the limited space in the conflict area at the intersection
- Intersection delay (D) = 14.11 sec/pcu to 2.54 sec/pcu, namely the vehicle cycle time at the intersection becomes short because it is not disturbed by traffic interactions with conflicting traffic movements,
- Opportunity queue (QP) 29 - 90% to 14 - 33% which is to provide smooth traffic so that it is not burdened by queues of vehicles stopping at each intersection arm. Especially the Musi VI bridge is not burdened by vehicles stopping on the bridge. From this simulation, it becomes better and more effective for smooth traffic after the existing condition of the unsignalized intersection is changed or planned to become a roundabout intersection
